Company Founding Date:
Iran Barite Company started iron ore exploration and operation in an area in southwest of Sirjan (Kerman Province) in 1348. And then the Iroservice Company carried out aerial geophysical removals (Magnetometry) over an area of 45,000 square kilometers between Abadeh ( Fars) and Jazmourian and identified numerous anomalies with high potential of iron ore. It was also found that the largest anomalies are located in the Gol Gohar area. Terrestrial geophysical removals including magnetometry and gravimetry were carried, following aerial geophysical studies in collaboration with the Yugoslav Institute of Geology from March to June 1975, covering an area of 74 square kilometers. Operations’ reports were issued in September of that year, which resulted in discovery of six iron ore anomalies with an iron ore reserve of 1100 million tons. Anomaly No. 3 has the largest reserve of iron ore among the six anomalies. Detailed studies on Anomaly No. 3 have been completed with more than 46,265 meters of 147 boreholes. It has been determined that Gohar Zamin iron ore mine has a geological reserve of over 604 million tons based on the collected studies and information, preliminary economic and technical studies conducted by the Canadian ADC Company as well as initial studies and design in the open pit mine by Kousha Mine Engineering Company, with the participation of WGM companies from Canada and SRK from the United Kingdom. About a third of the mentioned reserves will be extracted outdoors and the others through underground mining, based on the designs that have been made. 15 million tons of iron ore and 60 million tons of tailings and alloys are extracted each year by installing tailor-made of 4 to 1.
